Back in the Paranoid Internet offices in Berlin I finally have time to sit down and think about my marathon schedule from the past one and a half weeks.

To put it simply:

• Four different countries
• Four very different perspectives
• One and a half weeks concentrating on ePilot milestones

London: Move 2020

My trip started in London for Move 2020. The first morning I listened to a very interesting talk from Liad Itzhak of HERE Mobility talking about Disrupting the Disruptors. What really caught my attention is the ease people have in claiming the identity of a disruptor or innovator. With my most recent projects, ePilot I am looking not to do anything that is necessarily disruptive but something I think is simply a good idea I am passionate about. 

ePilot allows corporates to purchase an electric mobility subscription plan so that employees have the option to use their favorite e-mobility to get to work leading a company wide green initiative. 

Throughout the Move 2020 conference I continued to have talks about what a subscription model can and should be. Again not disruptive but practical. These feelings on subscription models were shared with members of the community like, Nico Polleti of Cluno and a fellow Berliner in London, Lawrence Leuschner  of the Berlin based TIER Mobility. 

By the second day I wished I could have taken an e-scooter around the massive conference hall. Although I kept my energy up for a great data driven talk from Erdem Ovacik the CEO of Donkey Republic and got a kick out of the “doughnut economics” theory. Another person I was happy to finally have a chance to meet was Fredrik Hjelm of Voi Technology. 

Lastly Eckart Diepenhorst from FREE NOW, it was also great to meet and exchange ideas. 

Most of my conversations in London among CEOs and decision makers were centered around the future of mobility from people in the industry whom I respect and admire. 

Düsseldorf: Vodafone and Digital Demo Day

The environment in London left me feeling energetic and ready for my trip to Düsseldorf. I met with Vodafone to finalize a critical aspect of the ePilot ecosystem. Because the ePilot platform handles important data from companies, I knew having a trustable infrastructure partner with German cloud services was imperative. Knowing that the company data is secure with the partnership between Vodafone and ePilot means the project has entered a new and exciting phase in its development. 

Milestone = Checked !

After my talks with Vodafone, I discovered they were taking part in Digital Demo Day. So of course, I spontaneously scheduled the conference into my trip. The leading startup expo and conference for industrial technology included many talks on hot topics like, 5g, iot, 3d printing and more.

Tallinn: E-Residency

 I was invited by ????????-Delegation for a week in Tallinn, Estonia and Riga, Latvia. The motive was for delegates to get introduced to the two vibrant ecosystems. 

During the trip, I heard about a very interesting program that I would like to share with my fellow entrepreneurs. It is called an “e-residency” that allows digital business owners and entrepreneurs to set up a paperless European company in Estonia. The government issued ‚digital identity‘ status allows access to the transparent digital business environment. So theoretically, someone could run their business from anywhere. As you may know, I am the ‘first adopter’ type, so after leaving I started the process. In 4-6 I will be an e-resident of Estonia!

The German delegates were also given the opportunity to present different hot topics in the German ecosystem that ranged from platform economics to iOT. It was a great pleasure of mine to present ePilot and the vibrant German e-mobility industry to a group of international entrepreneurs. The feedback was amazing and I really appreciated the exchange when given the chance to present the project to a whole new marketplace. 

While in Estonia, I was also introduced to a really fun group of entrepreneurs that refer to themselves as the #EstoniaMafia. Successful tech and unicorn founders in the region formed a business and social collective. Speaking with some members, I felt a strong sense of comradery for the entrepreneurial spirit. I found the Baltic area to be a great place for dev talks, especially thinking about technical support ePilot in the future. 

After some interesting conversations, I feel tempted to have ePilot issue our own electric vehicles. Right now, it would be very possible with my new found support in the blatic region. We will see, maybe in 2021? At the moment ePilot is still focusing on the platform. 

Riga: TechChill

The trip ended Riga for TechChill a 2,000 attendee conference that includes some of the best of the Baltic startup community. It includes the fastest-growing startups, most innovative corporations, investors active in the region and talented tech enthusiasts. TechChill is organized by a non-profit foundation of the same name, empowering the Baltic startup ecosystem throughout the year.

Anderthalb Wochen mit Schwerpunkt auf ePilot-Meilensteinen

London: Umzug 2020

Meine Reise begann für Move 2020 in London. Am ersten Morgen hörte ich einen sehr interessanten Vortrag von Liad Itzhak von HERE Mobility zum Thema “Disrupting the Disruptors”. Was meine Aufmerksamkeit wirklich auf sich gezogen hat, ist die Leichtigkeit, mit der Menschen die Identität eines Disruptors oder Innovators behaupten können. Mit meinen jüngsten Projekten wie ePilot verbinde ich beispielsweise eine gute Idee, für die ich mit eine Leidenschaft brenne.

Mit ePilot können Unternehmen ein Abonnement für Elektromobilität erwerben, sodass Mitarbeiter die Möglichkeit haben, ihr bevorzugtes elektrisch betriebenes Fahrzeug zu nutzen. Die grüne Initiative für zukunftsorientierte, nachhaltige Firmen!

Während der Move 2020-Konferenz führte ich weiterhin Gespräche darüber, was ein Abonnementmodell sein kann und sollte: Nicht störend, sondern praktisch. Diese Gefühle in Bezug auf Abonnementmodelle wurden mit Mitgliedern der Community wie Nico Polleti von Cluno und einem Berliner Kollegen in London, Lawrence Leuschner von der in Berlin ansässigen TIER Mobility, geteilt.

Am zweiten Tag wünschte ich mir, ich hätte einen E-Scooter durch den riesigen Konferenzsaal fahren können. Obwohl ich meine Energie für ein großartiges datengetriebenes Gespräch von Erdem Ovacik, dem CEO von Donkey Republic, aufrechterhalten habe und einen Kick aus der Theorie der „Donut-Ökonomie“ bekommen konnte. Eine andere Person, über die ich mich freute, endlich die Gelegenheit zu einem Treffen zu haben, war Fredrik Hjelm von Voi Technology.

Zuletzt Eckart Diepenhorst von FREE NOW – es war auch toll, sich zu treffen und Ideen auszutauschen.

Die meisten meiner Gespräche in London zwischen CEOs und Entscheidungsträgern drehten sich um die Zukunft der Mobilität von Menschen in der Branche, die ich sowohl respektiere als auch bewundere.

Düsseldorf: Vodafone und Digital Demo Day

Die Umgebung in London hat mich energisch und bereit für meine Reise nach Düsseldorf gemacht. Ich habe mich mit Vodafone getroffen, um einen kritischen Aspekt des ePilot-Ökosystems abzuschließen. Da die ePilot-Plattform wichtige Daten von Unternehmen verarbeitet, wusste ich, dass ein vertrauenswürdiger Infrastrukturpartner mit deutschen Cloud-Diensten unerlässlich ist. Zu wissen, dass die Unternehmensdaten durch die Partnerschaft zwischen Vodafone und ePilot sicher sind, bedeutet, dass das Projekt in eine neue und aufregende Phase seiner Entwicklung eingetreten ist.

Meilenstein = Abgehakt!

Nach meinen Gesprächen mit Vodafone stellte ich fest, dass sie am Digital Demo Day teilnahmen. Natürlich habe ich die Konferenz spontan in meine Reise eingeplant. Die führende Startup-Messe und Konferenz für Industrietechnologie umfasste viele Vorträge zu aktuellen Themen wie 5g, iot, 3D-Druck und mehr.

Tallinn: E-Residency

Ich wurde von der ????????-Delegation für eine Woche nach Tallinn, Estland und Riga, Lettland eingeladen. Das Motiv: Die Delegierten in die beiden Ökosysteme einzuführen.

Während der Reise hörte ich von einem sehr interessanten Programm, das ich mit meinen Mitunternehmern teilen möchte. Es wird als „E-Residency“ bezeichnet, die es digitalen Geschäftsinhabern und Unternehmern ermöglicht, ein papierloses europäisches Unternehmen in Estland zu gründen. Der von der Regierung ausgestellte Status „Digitale Identität“ ermöglicht den Zugang zum transparenten digitalen Geschäftsumfeld. Theoretisch könnte also jemand sein Geschäft von überall aus betreiben. Wie Sie vielleicht wissen, bin ich der Typ „Erster Anwender“. Nach dem Verlassen habe ich den Prozess gestartet. In 4-6 Wochen werde ich ein E-Resident von Estland sein!

Die deutschen Delegierten hatten auch die Möglichkeit, verschiedene aktuelle Themen des deutschen Ökosystems vorzustellen, die von der Plattformökonomie bis zum iOT reichten. Es war mir eine große Freude, ePilot und die pulsierende deutsche Elektromobilitätsbranche einer Gruppe internationaler Unternehmer vorzustellen. Das Feedback war unglaublich und ich habe den Austausch sehr geschätzt, als ich die Gelegenheit bekam, das Projekt einem ganz neuen Markt zu präsentieren.

Nach einigen interessanten Gesprächen bin ich versucht, ePilot unsere eigenen Elektrofahrzeuge herausgeben zu lassen. Im Moment wäre es mit meiner neu gefundenen Unterstützung in der Baltic-Region sehr gut möglich. Wir werden sehen, vielleicht im Jahr 2021? Derzeit konzentriert sich ePilot noch auf die Plattform.

Riga: TechChill

Die Reise beendete Riga für TechChill, eine Konferenz mit 2.000 Teilnehmern, an der einige der besten der baltischen Startup-Community teilnahmen. Es umfasste die am schnellsten wachsenden Startups, die innovativsten Unternehmen, in der Region tätige Investoren und talentierte Tech-Enthusiasten. TechChill wird von einer gleichnamigen gemeinnützigen Stiftung organisiert, die das baltische Startup-Ökosystem das ganze Jahr über unterstützt.
